Current Events

Well, it has been awhile since I have posted here. Things have gone a little crazy since then. Our oldest daughter will be turning 16 in a couple of days. OMG! Am I really old enough to have a 16 year old??? Apparently so. Kind of depressing and exciting at the same time. I remember turning 16 and how exciting it was but I also remember all the drama of that age. Have to say that I don't really miss it...at all!

Hubby is almost done with school, just a couple of weeks to go! And none to soon since I will be unemployed as of 12/31/09. He will be taking his certification exams within a couple of weeks of graduation. I am sooo excited for him. He loves what he does and has an interview next week! So, he will, most likely, be working before I lose my job so the financial part will be taken care of.

I have no intention of looking for another job at this point. I think that I am going to stay home and take care of my family and our home for now. I may get tired of this eventually but we'll see. I may decide that I was meant to be a stay at home mom...you never know!

The rest of the gang is doing well. Busy, as usual. Hopefully, I can be more diligent about posting here now but with the holidays approaching, who knows???

Grocery Shopping

Now, I don't know about anyone else but I absolutely cannot stand to go grocery shopping. It is just too much like work!! Of course, I have to be the one to do it because I am the one that does the meal planning and the cooking, plus the coupon clipping. Well, last night I finally broke down and went shopping. I had my menu planned and my coupons clipped and off I went.

My first stop was Kroger. Now, I don't normally shop at Kroger because they are typically much higher on most things than Walmart. However, since I have started using more coupons, I like Kroger because they double them. So, by buying an item on sale and then using a coupon, I get a really great deal. So, an hour later, my total was $125 (after plus card savings) then after coupons it was down to $83! I know that some people could have done better than that but for me, that was phenomenal! I was sooo excited!

Then, I went to Walmart to finish up. I was there for almost 2 hours! But I did stock up on quite a few things and got a few really good deals, like Kraft dressing for $.08! Anyway, my total came to $123.34 and after coupons it was $107.79. Not as good as Kroger but I still saved quite a bit.

Overall, I didn't think that it went too bad. I mean, I shopped for a family of 9 for 2 weeks and spent around $200. My ultimate goal is to get the grocery budget down to $400 a month so it looks like I am well on my way!

More of the Same...

Trinity spent the night last night with her MamMam Piper and her PawPaw Larry. This was only the second time she has spent the entire night away from both her daddy and I. It was a little easier than last time but I woke up several times last night looking for her! Chelsea stayed with her, which made it easier for them but I still don't want to think about my baby girl growing up!

The weekend was not as quiet as I thought it would be. The boys came home on Saturday. I guess they didn't want to spend the rest of the weekend at their mother's. Jordyn came home on Sunday evening. Poor Jeff had to deal with their mother and her drama. She was being her usual demanding self but Jeff just ignored her. The kids have been on Spring Break all weekend so I think they are trying to eat us out of house and home!

I swear, teenagers never stop eating! Josiah and Jacob would eat 24/7 if we would let them. Jeff starts back to school on Monday and he is more than excited. We are down to the last 3 quarters! I cannot wait until he is done with school. He loves what he is doing so that makes it even better for him. Hopefully, I will know something about my job soon. I have no idea how much longer I am going to be working but we'll take it as it comes, I guess.

Josiah is at his mom's for the night and Chelsea is with her Mammaw Polly for the night so we only have 4 of our kids but we have 2 extras. Nothing unusual...there are always other kids here. Jordyn will be staying at MamMam's tomorrow night, with Trinity hopefully, and Steven will be spending the night here with Josiah. It is always crazy around here!

I got Jordyn and Chelsea signed up for softball this weekend. We should hear something from the coaches by the second week of April. It would be nice if they were on the same team, but I am doubting it because they are a little farther apart in age.

Well, I think that is everything that has been going on so far. I will add pictures as soon as I can but I never have enough time! Maybe this weekend...who knows???

The Beginning...

I was thinking that this blog would be a nice way to keep everyone up to date on all of the activity and drama that comes with raising six kids. I will try to keep it updated at least a couple times a week but I can pretty much guarantee that it is not going to get updated on a daily basis! There is no way that I can keep up with that while working full time and trying to take care of the house and the all the kids and their activities.

Things should be pretty quiet this weekend. Jordyn, Josiah and Jacob are all at their mother's for the weekend. Of course, Trinity and Mason alone are a handful especially since Mason won't stay off of the dining room table and Trinity doesn't like to stay in the house!

Jeff has finished another quarter of school. He finished with 2 B's and an A. He has 3 quarters to go and he will be ready to sit for his exam to become a Registered Respiratory Therapist. We are both so excited and can hardly wait for him to get done.

I am still working at ABX Air. I have switched roles within the company several times over the last few months. As people leave to go to other jobs, I have been moved around in order to help fill the gaps. I am currently processing any position that we happen to be hiring for...which aren't many and none, really in Wilmington plus I do the badging for the company. I have been looking for another job but so far, haven't found anything so I guess I will stay until they tell me that they no longer need me.
